There is more to a good dive than what happens underwater. Learn to see the whole day through a professional’s eyes.
At Tioman Dive Buddy, Divemaster training combines theory, waterskills and an internship with a working dive team. Give yourself time to practise, understand the preparation and become a more capable, considerate member of the team.

Build your knowledge and skill demonstrations, then connect them through practical experience. Your instructor supports your progress through each part of the course.
Deepen your understanding of dive physics, physiology, equipment and risk management. Combine independent study with instructor reviews, then demonstrate your knowledge through the course assessments.
Develop stamina, rescue ability and demonstration-quality scuba skills. Practise controlled, clear movements that help a student understand what they are seeing, with feedback from your instructor.
Work alongside the TDB team under instructor supervision. Build experience with student assistance, dive planning, site mapping, briefings and the preparation that supports a well-run dive day.

PADI certifications or qualifying equivalents from a recognised training organisation. Send us your training record so we can check your entry requirements.
A physician must assess and clear you for diving. Arrange the required medical documentation before your training begins.

A dormitory bed or in-office accommodation is provided free, subject to availability. Confirm your specific sleeping arrangement with us before making travel plans.

A month on the island starts with a conversation. Let’s work through the practical details together.
Contact Tioman Dive BuddyYou must be at least 18, hold Advanced Open Water and Rescue Diver certifications or qualifying equivalents, and have at least 40 logged dives. You also need CPR and first-aid training within the past 24 months and a physician’s diving medical clearance within the past 12 months. At least 60 logged dives are required for certification, alongside all course requirements.
Plan for at least one month. TDB’s internship combines study, waterskills and practical experience with the dive team. Your progress, required experience and conditions determine the final training schedule. Talk to us if you would like to extend your stay.
The course fee is RM3,800 per person, including the training programme, certification fees and free dormitory or in-office accommodation, subject to availability. Meals are optional at an additional RM1,000 for the course meal plan. Discuss equipment rental and your individual arrangements with the team before confirming.
The included stay is a dormitory bed or in-office accommodation, subject to availability. It is a shared, practical base for your training. Confirm the specific arrangement and dates with the team before making travel plans.
Equipment rental is available at TDB. Trainees are encouraged to bring their own mask, snorkel, fins, dive computer and surface marker buoy. Speak with your instructor about your existing kit, what you need and rental arrangements before arrival.

Divemaster is PADI’s first professional rating. Active-status Divemasters can supervise diving activities and assist instructors within their training and applicable standards. You can continue building experience or discuss the separate requirements for the Instructor Development Course with TDB.
