Progression is about more than metres. It is how you plan, how you respond and how you work together.
The second course in the TecRec progression builds directly on Tec 40. Train for decompression dives to a maximum of 45 metres and learn to work with a decompression gas containing up to 100% oxygen, within your training and applicable standards.
Knowledge development, practical applications and four training dives bring the course together. Your instructor reviews your progress at each stage, helping you build consistency before moving forward.

Build one stage on the last. Your instructor adapts the daily sequence to your progress and conditions, while keeping every course requirement in focus.
4 Days / 3 Nights · 4 Training DivesReview your technical foundations, then develop your understanding of accelerated decompression and oxygen handling. Prepare your equipment and dive plans together with your instructor.
Refine buoyancy, trim and team awareness in your technical configuration. Practise gas-switching procedures and simulated decompression under instructor supervision.
Progress through your open-water training with your instructor. Apply your planning, gas management and team skills to decompression diving within the course limits.
Review your knowledge, dive logs and practical performance with your instructor. Certification follows successful completion of every course requirement; your learning continues well beyond the final dive.
Start With the Right Foundation
Share your certifications and dive log before confirming your course. The TDB team will check your qualifications, medical documentation and readiness with you.
PADI Tec 40 or a qualifying technical certification from another recognised training organisation.
PADI Rescue Diver or a qualifying certification. If using an equivalent, provide proof of CPR and first-aid training within the previous two years.
At least 50 logged dives, including documented experience with 10 dives deeper than 30 metres.
You must be at least 18 years old to enrol. Your instructor will review your readiness and course requirements before confirming your place.
A Diver Medical form signed by a physician within the previous 12 months is required before training.

Your standard course fee includes the listed training, rental equipment and gas fills. Speak with the team about your dates and experience, then build your island stay around the course.
Meals and accommodation are separate. Confirm your training dates before booking your ferry and stay.

Ask the TDB TeamPADI Tec 45 builds on Tec 40, developing the planning and practical skills for decompression dives to a maximum of 45 metres. Training introduces a decompression gas containing up to 100% oxygen, within your training and applicable standards. The course includes four training dives.
PADI Tec 45 takes 4 days and 3 nights (4D3N) when taken separately. Complete Tec 40, Tec 45 and Tec 50 together over 7 days and 6 nights (7D6N). Confirm your dates with TDB before booking travel; you must meet the entry and performance requirements for each course.
The fee is per person and includes course learning materials, four training dives, the listed cylinder setup, technical equipment rental, training gas fills and the PADI certification fee. Meals and accommodation are separate. Certification depends on meeting all course requirements.
Yes, provided you meet the entry requirements and your instructor confirms your readiness. Tec 50 is 4 days and 3 nights when taken separately. You can also discuss the full Tec 40, Tec 45 and Tec 50 programme over 7 days and 6 nights.
